About
Hi, I’m Kirsten. I’ve been writing for several years, though it’s only within the last few that I’ve grown comfortable enough to start showing my work to anyone. I don’t have any formal training, just the school of semi-public opinion and the study of writers I admire. A few of those writers have said they like my work, and I figure I’ll take them at their word since they don’t have any reason not to be honest.
I’m currently trying to decide what to do with my completed new adult manuscript. Traditional publishing is a fool’s pursuit, at least from the view of this outsider, but I do think there’s some wisdom in the advice to write your first novel, edit it completely and then put it away forever. My skills and style grew a lot during the four years I worked on Mental Affairs, and it’s *hard* to edit those inconsistencies out! It’s still your work, but a much less polished version. And yet, those 95,000 words represent four years of my life, and that’s a lot of time to put away forever. So I’m swinging, caught between the people who say the story needs to be told, my lack of funds to hire an editor, and my fear that it’s all shit and I should put my efforts into something new.
Ah, the joyous neuroses of artists…
If you poke around here at all, you’ll notice a lot of posts tagged “Interactive Novel.” This is my new project – I’m writing in public and allowing audience feedback to shape the story. All of my readers picked the prompt for this, and then when I asked which version of the idea to go with, they split down the middle. So I’m writing both. *facepalm*
Anyway, come in, poke around the archives, and make yourself comfortable. I try to put up new fiction at least once a week, but sometimes I fail. That’s ok though, I always come back. :-)
